Whatever the mind can CONCEIVE and BELIEVE it can ACHIEVE!!

In June, 2007, Jo-Layne became the fourth Geraldi to graduate from high school at Hayesville High School in Hayesville, NC!
Born with Down syndrome and severe medical problems including
life-threatening cardiac, lung and bowel disorders, Jo-Layne underwent nearly a dozen surgeries by age six and spent most
of the first two years of her life in the hospital. Doctors expected
her to be blind, deaf and severely delayed...but she proved them
wrong! With her funny sense of humor and outgoing personality
(not to mention stubborn streak a mile wide!) our "Jo-Pain"
has overcome so many obstacles to get where she is today - a healthy, happy, high school graduate! Jo-Layne will start at
the IOI work program this fall and we couldnt be prouder!!

The Graduate!!!

Jo-Layne's nickname is
Piggy, so the kids made
a Good-luck poster for
her to be shown as she walked to get her diploma...complete
with a drawing of a pig!!

Jo-Layne and
Mommy.
Because Jo-Layne
was so sick for so
long, she and
Mommy are special buddies. They are
very much alike, as
you can see here!
