WELCOME VOLUNTEERS!!
We depend on and greatly appreciate all of our wonderful volunteers. Throughout the years we have had hundreds of wonderful people of all ages dedicate their time, talents and love to our Foundation. The kids and adults love to make
new friends! Even though the Foundation has undergone several major changes over the past few years, we are still going strong both in Miami and Hayesville and will happily accept anyone who wishes to volunteer with us.
Please contact the administrative office at
(305) 252-2552 in Miami and 1-828-389-0770 in North Carolina to set up times for volunteering. Due to our clients' busy schedules (school, Drs. appointments, etc.) please do not just stop by and call at least two days in advance. Volunteering can be anything from spending an afternoon with the clients in their home playing a game to setting up an outing for the park, zoo, etc. Again, if you would like to organize a trip outside the Foundation, we ask that you give us at least two weeks notice to organize transportation and supervision for the clients.
We do ask that volunteers follow these guidelines:
- Volunteers under the age of 12 are not permitted unless accompanied by a parent/guardian or adult of legal age (over 18)
- PLEASE do not come visit the clients if you are sick. Many of our children and adults are very medically involved and cannot afford to get sick. If you are sick or think you may be coming down with something, please wait until you are better to set up a time to volunteer.
- Please ask the staff before photographing the children. We have a few that cannot be photographed due to legal purposes. - Profanity will not be accepted in any of our homes
- We love and appreciate anyone that wants to come and acquire volunteer hours for school, church, etc. However, if you come and visit, you are expected to interact with the clients. Volunteer letters confirming hours will not be given to volunteers that simply sit around and talk on cell phones, etc.
